He’s also established a pair of respected record labels in Disques Sinthomme, which has released a wide range of work featuring the likes of Max Essa, the Beat Broker and Richard “Padded Cell” Sen, and an edit imprint, Ghost Town, which has seen contributions from Brennan Green and Bicep, among many other notables. “I mostly start with some techno stuff. Not always, but you give the illusion that it will be like that and then after 45 minutes you just drastically change it by putting in some kind of acid record or something like that” Niels Luinenburg told Resident Advisor in 2012.

It’s an approach that he’s had to his DJ sets since he started in 2008, where no two sets are ever the same. Although his productions as Delta Funktionen are based in the techno genre, you’re likely to hear electro, Italo, house and techno within quick succession during his sets with the intention of laying down some ‘serious fun’. DJ and producer Richard Gamble was born in Memphis and steeped in the rich musical history of his hometown, from the DIY spirit of punk & garage rock in dive bars to the booming 808s and cassette hiss of local underground rap.

Later he moved to New York where he found a new home among Brooklyn’s emergent house and techno scene, founding a monthly night called Lost Soul at the infamous and now-defunct Wreck Room. The residency evolved into a label, Lost Soul Enterprises, and its seventh vinyl offering is his first solo release, the Teeth Like Foil EP. Continue reading

When Intergalactic Gary played at French Kiss presents back in January he absolutely nailed it. He brought everything to the table, from House and Garage to Disco and Acid, and then he turned the table upside down and blew us away. Throb – A benefit for our brothers and sisters at Pulse

The shootings at Pulse nightclub in Orlando last week were a tragedy. The fact that a man thinks he has the right to take away the lives of 49 people (and injury 53 people) because he couldn’t handle his own sexuality is devastating. The fact that this person had access to a gun is wrong. Continue reading

Experimenting with sound, image and movement since he was a kid, it’s no wonder Gavin Russom became a synth wizard. In the early 2000s he became the electronics expert for DFA Records, before joining LCD Soundsystem. His own productions as Black Meteoric Star helped to lay the foundation for the current proliferation of the outsider house, free form electronics and punk/techno hybrids while The Crystal Ark brought avant-pop and Brazilian influences to his analogue sound. In the past year he’s released tracks on L.I.E.S and Curle Recordings and has plans to release an album as Black Meteoric Star on Nation. Over the years he’s also released music as Hail Of Arrows, Knight Skyy and Paper Eyes. Continue reading

It’s hard to imagine a party where the DJ doesn’t mix. It’s even harder to imagine a party where people stop and clap after every song. But four times a year, it happens, and it’s probably the best party you’ll ever go to in your life. Continue reading
