Drummer B brought two hours of Detroit power to Good Room during his live set at the Frendzone party on 9/21/19.

Good Room residents L&L&L Record Club share their set from the club on 08.24.19 as the 149th Good Room Podcast. Comprised of DJs Laura Control, Lauren Goulet and Lauren Murada, the Ls spin a mix of 70s classics, tropical funk, afrobeat, house edits and leftfield jams. They’re known in the Brooklyn club scene as avid record collectors who play the jams that get people dancing.

Jason Weintraub lives for disco and funk. Bringing it out under his moniker DiscoTwitter, he is deeply rooted in classic sounds, playing emotive, uplifting and irresistibly rhythmic records from the late ‘70s and early ‘80s. After playing at Good Room for the first time this month, DiscoTwitter put together a Love Mix for the 148th Good Room Podcast.

Nothing beats DJing with friends and we were lucky to catch these friends in action on July 6. This Bad Room set was recorded live with music from Ani Phoebe (DJ), Takuya Nakamura (DJ & Live trumpet/synth, Noah Prebish (DJ) and Mira Fahrenheit (DJ), in that order. Expect eclectic, genre-defying sounds for a moving dance floor experience.

I was able to track down @djwawabk which is harder than it seems. They live in Bed Stuy and are a self described home body. Only ever leaving their cave to dance, listen and support the DJs they’ve gotten to know while living in Brooklyn the last 4 years. They told me they wanted to “Thank Good Room, a club that I’ve had some very memorable nights partying, for giving me a chance to light the dance floor on fire.” I couldn’t tell if he meant with beats or a literal fire but I guess we’ll find out on Saturday 8/3 with Baltra and Jacques Renault.

DJ Wawa reminds you to GO DANCE. That is what this music is for. It is the thing that connects us all over the world. Do not forget to move!

Influenced from the sounds of yesterday and tomorrow, John’s mix for the Good Room Podcast is a sonic collection of The Black Experience. You can catch him on the dancefloor on 07.24 with John Barera, Kfeelz, RAQX and Vilaen.

Native to New York, musclecars is a DJ / Producer duo consisting of Brandon Weems and Craig Handfield. As musicians, they equally share an admiration for the artform. Their desire to blend genres and express their appreciation for music is focused around their community- the end goal is to bring people together.

In 2018 they launched ‘Coloring Lessons’, a party that was aimed to add value to their city’s nightlife culture. While the party and sound is not genre specific, it is heavily focused around house, disco, jazz, and soul, embracing the musical elements of their black and brown ancestors. Their Good Room Podcast aims to spread the music that has been influential to them, and share it with a younger generation of their peers. Childhood pals Day Cart & Wig-Wam started Goonroom around 2013 and have since brought a variety of house and techno favorites, like Cinthie, DJ Seinfeld, Sweely and Damiano von Erckert, to neighborhood dancefloors. Their sonic focus is on jacking, pumping deepness and a no-frills, positive atmosphere.

The pair have put together a mix for the Good Room Podcast ahead of their set with Denis Sulta on 05.09. The Goodroom podcast was recorded on a rainy spring evening with some slices of Tony Clifton, a couple of cold ones, and a healthy serving of house heat. Tracks were played by the likes of Mr. G, Italojohnson, Fabe, Carlo, Todd Edwards, Cab Drivers, Ruff Stuff, and St. David. The mix ends with a special remastered version of their collective favorite house track of all time.

J.S. is an educator – dj – and founding member of the Plastic Dreams collective. By day, they are a humanities and social justice teacher – leading young minds through essential lessons in mindfulness and anti-bias awareness. Truly disruptive educational strategies oriented towards a better, kinder world. As a DJ – they weave their music with a deft and thoughtful hand, and cover disaporic rhythms and genres with intent.

J.S. made a Spring Mix for the Good Room Podcast ahead of their set at U-ME-US with Savile on April 6 (Tickets – bit.ly/2EwIvBJ). The genre non-specific dance mix opens with a Citizen Boy remix of “Tokoliana” from the group Kokoko! of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and features a track from the first Plastic Dreams EP release by Lonefront, “If You Hear It”. It also features a track off of Savile’s latest EP, The Abolitionist, and ends with a track titled Gotas by Taso (Teklife) and Siete Catorce (Naafi) featuring Lao and Adrian Be.

We have something special for the 141st Good Room Podcast. The Funky Seshwa got their jazz hands on a digital copy of the legendary Marley Marl DJing NYC staple hip-hop radio show, Mr. Magic’s Rap Attack on 107.5FM WBLS from 1984. Although it was a hip-hop based show, Marley’s skills on the turntables showcased so much more than just that singular genre, but all the different sounds of the era, whether it be rock, electro, leftfield, disco, and/or house music. Marley will be rocking The Funky Seshwa this Thursday night (03.28) in the Bad Room, a genre-bending groove party that highlights all the beautiful flavors of dance music. Tickets – bit.ly/2Sw7gYt
