GEORGE FITZGERALD
British DJ/producer George FitzGerald was signed to Scuba’s influential label Hotflush Recordings in 2010, releasing moody, melancholic R&B-influenced club tracks, starting with “The Let Down” 12″, followed up by “Don’t You” (also on Hotflush) and “Fernweh” on his own ManMakeMusic in early 2011. By the end of 2012, FitzGerald had additionally released EPs on Aus Music (Silhouette and Child) and Hypercolour (Needs You), remixed Jessie Ware and Throwing Snow, and completed DJ mixes for Resident Advisor and XLR8R.
In 2013, FitzGerald contributed to BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix series, and signed with Domino sublabel Double Six Recordings, issuing singles “Magnetic” and “I Can Tell (By the Way You Move)” by the end of the year. FitzGerald’s music began to evolve into a more analog-based techno/house sound, rather than the U.K. garage-influenced style of his previous work. Personal issues, such as a failing relationship and disillusionment with the club scene, delayed the production of his debut full-length, then ultimately inspired it; Fading Love, featuring guest vocals by Boxed In and Lawrence Hart, finally arrived in 2015.
FLORIAN KUPFER
Late nights, restless thoughts, bursting emotions—Florian Kupfer’s music evokes something familiar yet elusive, personal yet universal, a hearbeat heard through endless spools of gently hissing tape. Born in Wiesbaden, introduced to ’90s techno by his mother, educated in production via hip-hop and nudged by his great-grandparents to pursue his creative impulse, he spent years bouncing around Germany before he met L.I.E.S. boss Ron Morelli DJing at the Robert Johnson in Offenbach, and a new relationship with music crystalized: “I was just standing in the room like, ‘What ??’” All previously gained perceptions of musical aesthetics have altered in that very moment.
Lifetrax, Kupfer’s first release was an instant classic upon its release in 2013, and its success brought him to Berlin, kicked off a flurry of deeply felt DJ gigs and led to follow-up releases for L.I.E.S., Russian Torrent Versions and Willie Burns’ W.T. Records. With Burns, Kupfer has forged a musical collaboration, which so far has resulted in the release of an EP for Rush Hour offshoot No ‘Label’. Kupfer’s music remains a highly personal undertaking, his tracks still wrought from one-take hardware jams in his bedroom.

JDH and Dave P have been pushing electronic music in Brooklyn for the past decade through their party FIXED. The pair have hosted some of the best international acts from Tensanke and John Talabot to Simian Moble Disco and Lindstrom. They’re also well established DJs in their own right and always know how to get the crowd moving, playing everying from experimental electronic music to the darker side of house, disco, techno, the works.
