Juan MacLean recorded live from Good Room on 04.24.20.

A word from Juan:
“I played the opening night of Good Room some time in 2014, and the final Saturday the club was open, March 7th, before this Coronavirus pandemic struck. In those years, it has served as my home base in two important ways. One is as a source of community. When I’m not on the road, I am usually there on the weekend seeing friends and my favorite DJ’s, and on arrival it usually takes me a while to get settled as I am warmly greeted by everyone from the person working the door to the owner, most of whom I consider friends. It’s a home away from home, and I think that is generally the vibe of the club. The second is the way Good Room, and Josh Houtkin, the booker and one half (along with the legendary Dave P.) of Fixed, in particular have supported me artistically over the years. Throughout the natural peaks and valleys of my career, Good Room, with Josh’s support, has been a reliable place for me to play, serving to both support me financially and more importantly artistically. It’s a place I can stretch out, try out new things to take on the road, take more chances, and where there is an audience that generally knows and trusts me. This is the primary importance of these medium sized venues. They are a breeding ground for the kinds of parties and DJ’ing that are the life-force of our music scene. It’s just big enough to support bringing in international favorites like Jennifer Cardini, Roman Flugel, John Talabot, and Martyn, among many others. But small enough to retain a purity of spirit, a sprit that is about the music and the shared sense of community that allows for transcendence. That is my first hand perspective, anyway, as someone involved from the beginning, and I am honored to be playing this first live stream broadcast in support of Good Room.”

There is one name in Chicago that is synonymous disco funk and soulful house, Rahaan. Over the years his trademark sound has built a career for Rahaan, known for on his high-energy boogie sets. He is also well known for a steady remix and edit output, which have ended up in the record bags of DJs across the world.

Rahaan makes his Good Room debut on 12.12 at The Funky Seshwa Season Closer with Rich Medina. He has put together a mix for the 155th Good Room Podcast ahead of the party which will have you dancing until the party starts

A staple at Good Room since day one, FIXED has spent the last five years at the club and the past 15 years throwing the best parties New York has to offer. Co-founded by JDH & Dave P, the pair were among the first to tour acts like artists like Hot Chip, Lindstrøm, and Simian Mobile Disco to NYC. In the past year they’ve continue to support new international and local talent alike with the likes of Roman Flugel, Axel Boman, Vladimir Ivkovic, Lena Wilikens, Pional, Rebolledo, Auntie Flo and more.

JDH & Dave P have held a number of events at Good Room this year in celebration of the 15th Anniversary but 12.06.19 is the party to end all parties. Hivern Discs’ John Talabot will be playing besides the boys plus Love Injection is in the Bad Room with Paul Raffaele and Takaya Nagase.

As two long-standing contributors to the NewYork deep house & disco scenes, Bradford James (Seed Recording/Love City) and Dailysessions-founder DJ Monchan united in 2017 to form Cedar Sound Workshop. A concept that showcased their combined talents and influences within the deeper sounds of Detroit, Chicago & New York. Having released music on various vinyl EPs and remixes on Dailysession Records; CSW maintains the heart and soul of the underground vibes using analog gear and musicianship. They have put a mix together for the 153rd Good Room Podcast ahead of their set at The Funky Seshwa on November 7, 2019.

Earth Beat is an NYC-based radio program & party series run by Greg D, Fundido, Extra Water Andrew, and Ty McDonald. They partner with different environmental charities on a local and national level to raise some money and awareness for a variety of causes, and I guess have some fun while doing it.

They put together the 152nd Good Room Podcast ahead of their party in the Bad Room on 10.04 with Millos Kaiser. Here’s what they say about this mix: “This big time Dee Jay Party mix was recorded in our second favorite club, Latane’s living room. Big pumpers, world groovers, and other tracks that’ll make you pop yr top. Vinyl only. Please clap.”
